Umina Beach, NSW, July 2016/Press Release – A new literary voice from Australia, Caroline Cumming (www.ccumming.com), has won the recognition of the country’s largest regional writers centre with her newly released book, The Love of One: A Memoir of the Creative Power that Weaved a Miracle, and been invited to showcase her work at its Byron Writers Festival, amongst a stellar guest line-up of more than 150 writers, poets, journalists, politicians, thinkers, and names such as Cheryl Strayed, Magda Szubanski, Charlotte Wood, and William Finnegan.

Part magical mystery, part awakening, and part collective journal, The Love of One intimately explores how we create the suffering of disconnection, and illuminates what is possible when we are love in action. It depicts the epic journey of how Caroline’s husband, Gordon, suddenly deteriorated during a routine procedure at a local hospital, crashed to the brink of death in coma, and went from 0.5% chance of making it to not only surviving without brain damage, but to thriving in life. In a race against time, family rifts, the unseen at play, bombshells, medics, local folk, and the extraordinary growth of a special online healing community involving Caroline’s raw posts, all converged for the benefit of one man…and all involved. At its core the tale offers a poignant reminder to cherish those we love. Yet it is also a messenger for the truth that we are all one.

Married to Gordon for 11 years, Caroline works to inspire and empower individuals to live with an open heart. In this book, she explores how to best meet our fears in the face of great resistance, to find grace and strength in vulnerability, heal our sense of separation, and live our love and connectedness - skills she also teaches through her personal mentoring, coaching programmes, and speaking engagements.

Edwina Johnson, Festival Director, remarks, “…the power of Byron Writers Festival lies in the evocative expression of real and imagined stories that strike chords and captivate because they are authentic, and told by exceptional thinkers, writers, and communicators.”

Family memoir and family tragedy are just one of the themes being explored at the 20th Byron Writers Festival, a not-for-profit organisation. The festival offers a seven-day program (1st-7th August 2016) attracting more than 65,000 individual attendances. A core mission is to promote quality literature, particularly Australian.

The Love of One (published by Six Degrees Publishing) sells for USD $18.95 (paperback) and USD $8.99 (ebook) and is available through Amazon and other leading online bookstores.
